Picture yourself at FotoFest 2008!
Every two years, the Houston region becomes the world's
premiere showcase for photographic art with the biennial presentation of
FotoFest. Buchanan Gallery is proud to
announce its fourth
FotoFest exhibition, opening this Saturday, March 1, with an artist's
reception from 6-9. Award-winning Houston photographer Terry Vine presents
a beautiful new series of images made in the Italian countryside of Fiesole,
located in Tuscany, just outside of Florence. Vine's photographs
"take us on an Italian road trip unlike most we have vicariously
experienced - one of quiet beauty, contemplating the softness of
nature," comments Clint Willour, curator of the Galveston Arts
Center. Vine's Fiesole photographs
are offered in limited editions of only five prints per image, with
overscaled, archival prints up to 21 x 32 inches (image size). Click

Phyllis Hand shoots "Succulents"
For a complementary contrast to Terry Vine's color, panoramic
images of a faraway land, Houston photographer Phyllis Hand
explores the amazing beauty of Texas succulents, with close-up,
black-and-white images. The overscaled dimensions of Hand's prints - up to 40 x 40
inches on archival watercolor paper - underscore the incredible textures,
shadings and amazing varieties of agaves, wedding cacti and other species. "The result is a group of stunningly haunting images of
exotic beauty," states the Galveston Art Center's Clint Willour. To see images from Hand's Succulents series, please
